Spring 5 Mile Adventure Hike – The NJ Hudson Palisades

This hike is suited for all scouts.

We will start in the parking lot for Camp Alpine and after using a bridge to cross the parkway, we will hike to a castle fort called the Women’s Federation Monument.  After taking pictures, we will hike south along the Long Path stopping for the scenic views of the Hudson River at Ruckman Point, Bombay Hook and Grey Crag.  After reaching the Park Administration Bldg, we will turn around and hike back to the parking lot at Camp Alpine.

While the trail is reasonably level, it can be rocky at times so make sure to wear good hiking boots (no sneakers).  Eat a good breakfast, bring nut-free snacks, and plenty of water (2 liters should be more than enough) in a day pack.  Wear layers and pack a rain jacket.
