5 Mile Adventure Hike

This hike is suited for all scouts.

We will start in the parking lot for Camp Alpine and after using a bridge to cross the parkway, we will hike to a castle fort called the Women’s Federation Monument. After taking pictures, we will hike south along the Long Path stopping for the scenic views of the Hudson River at Ruckman Point, Bombay Hook and Grey Crag. After reaching the Park Administration Bldg, we will turn around and hike back to the parking lot at Camp Alpine.

While the trail is reasonably level, it can be rocky at times so make sure to wear good hiking boots (no sneakers). Eat a good breakfast, bring nut-free snacks, and plenty of water (2 liters should be more than enough). Wear layers and pack a rain jacket.

Our end time is an approximation and will depend on the pace set by the scouts.

Equipment / Gear   Required:

Boots, water, personal first aid kit, hand sanitizer, snacks and lunch.

Dress in layers for the weather. Please arrive at the start by 8:45am
