5-Mile Hike

This hike is suitable for all hikers. 

We will finish the hike at the start location.  

We will start at the Landing Road parking area and follow the Long Path trail to the south.  After a brief incline, the trail follows the ridge of Hook Mountain.  There are many scenic views of the Hudson River and the east shoreline.  There is a chance we will see hawks soaring overhead.

The trail is on the NYNJ Trail Conference Trail Map 110.

Make sure to wear good hiking boots (no sneakers) and wool or synthetic socks (no cotton).  Pack for a day hike, including at least 2 liters of water, snacks and lunch.  Wear layers and pack a rain jacket, we hike in all weather.  A warm hat and gloves should be packed as well..
