5-Mile Hike Fall '23

EVENT FLYER

We will Meet at Germonds at 8:10, take attendance, and depart by 8:25. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes from New City. We will attempt to carpool all scouts with leaders, but might need parents to transport as well.

Lake Skannatati is one of the lakes off of Seven Lakes Drive, Tuxedo. We will pick up the Long Path (Aqua - same trail you might have hiked on closer to home) from the parking lot, and head west, turning left onto Dunning trail (Yellow), through Hogencamp Mine, across Bowling Rocks, left up to Bald Rocks. We can check out the lean-to, and enjoy some mountain air to usher in our scouting year. We will stop there for lunch.

Lunch: please pack lunch, snacks (nut-free), at least 2 liters of water, hydration supplements as needed)

Conservation - we will be on the look-out for any trail traces, you know, those cliff bar wrappers that just got away from someone. We will be picking up what we see on-trail and at our stops, and hiking it out with us.

Scouts check your requirements to see if you've earned hiking for your rank. Please read those pages, pack your Scout Book, and be prepared to talk about it.

Please pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly.

properly fitting hiking shoes/boots (no sneakers), backpack, water bottles/hydration bladder - at least 2 liters, bug spray, scout book, hat, no cotton, rain gear, first aid, Scout Essentials
