About the Event
We will Meet at Germonds at 8:00, take attendance, and depart by 8:15. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes from New City. We will attempt to carpool all scouts with leaders, but might need parents to transport as well.
We will return to the site of our recent Winter Backpacking trip, Big Hill. Along the way we will pick up traces. Once at the site we will clean up the area, including fire pits and the lean-to, and see about collecting some firewood and sticks to leave at the shelter. Time permitting, we can hike down to the reservoir for clean-up as well.
The hike to Big Hill and the Reservoir is a moderate one, perfect for Scouts who are new to hiking.
Lunch: please pack lunch, snacks (nut-free), at least 2 liters of water, hydration supplements (as needed), eat breakfast at home
Conservation - we will be on the look-out for any trail traces, you know those cliff bar wrappers that just got away from someone. We will be picking up what we see on-trail and at our stops, and hiking it out with us.
Please pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly.
Equipment / Gear Required:
properly fitting hiking shoes/boots (no sneakers), backpack, water bottles/hydration bladder - at least 2 liters, hat, no cotton, rain gear, first aid, gloves, Scout Essentials
Special Notes / Handling
bring 2 plastic shopping bags for clean-up
