Feast on the Mountain '23

ACTIVITY FLYER HERE

This is our annual Feast on the Mountain backpacking trip. We will return to West Mountain shelter point to enjoy spectacular views of NYC while we feast.

Saturday: The group will meet by the trailer at the Germonds parking lot at 8 AM (depart at 8:30am), carpooling is dependent on number of scouts and leaders, be prepared to drive your scout to the drop off at the parking area at Anthony Wayne Seasonal Lot.

We will head to West Mountain shelter via the Blue Trail, and meet up with Red Trail, Orange Trail, and finally Blue Trail into the shelter. Once there we will gather and prepare firewood for our feast, set up camp, and enjoy what the cooks have prepared. The evening sky is a real treat, as we can see clear to the lights of NYC on the horizon.

Sunday: After breakfast, hike out to pick up point back at the seasonal parking lot

Pack light and tight, remember that we will be carrying troop gear and food in addition to our own. A list of required personal gear is available on the Troop website.

NO COTTON! WOOL OR SYNTHETIC ONLY. MUST BRING WATER

Please plan on cold weather. Early November weather can vary greatly, and we will be going regardless of weather conditions.

Meals: Everyone should eat breakfast and bring their own lunch for Saturday. The Troop will provide dinner and dessert for Saturday and a light breakfast Sunday. Pack extra snacks.

You must also bring 3+ liters of water, one liter for yourself and two liters to share with the troop for cooking. ***REMEMBER, NO NUTS or PEANUT BUTTER***
