About the Event

EVENT FLYER

Saturday: The group will meet   by the trailer at the Germonds parking lot at 7:30 AM (depart at 8:00am), for group gear, food distribution and carpooling   to drop off at the parking area at the Johnsontown Road circle (199 Johnsontown Rd, Sloatsburg, NY 10974)   (41.17994, -74.16395) off the southwest end of Seven Lakes Drive. Led by members of the PLC, we will head to the Dutch Doctor shelter from the parking lot using the White Bar Trail. Once at the shelter, we can set   up in the shelter and will set up tents around the shelter. Troop Guides and   Instructors will have an opportunity to fulfill their leadership requirements   by helping novice backpackers select sites and pitch tents.  We will then take a side hike to see the   famous outlaw Cladius Smith’s Den.  When we return to the shelter, we will prepare dinner.

Sunday: After breakfast,   hike out to pick up point back to the Circle at Johnsontown Road for pickup   at 9:00 am.

Pack   light and tight, remember that we will be carrying troop gear and food in   addition to our own. A list of required personal gear is available on Troop website.  No cotton. MUST BRING WATER to drink and share for cooking. Troop has backpacking tents for use.

Please plan on cold weather. Early October weather can vary greatly and we will be going in all weather conditions.
