About the Event
Troop 97 will be holding a 2023 Trail to Eagle Course. This specialty course will provide an opportunity for Scouts to work
on earning 2 merit badges over the period by attending two sessions, one on Sunday, February 19, 2023 and the second
on Sunday March 12, 2023.
All aspects of this course will follow the Merit Badge process (no short cuts) and provides a structured environment for
success. Each scout will contact their assigned MB counselor and they will have contact with him or her throughout the
entire duration of this course and after.
Additional topics to assist the scout on his Trail to Eagle will be covered during the sessions:
What is an Eagle Scout? What does “being active in your troop” really mean? Qualities of a good Leader.
What is a good Leadership/Service Project? How to plan a Service Project. Introduction to Eagle Advancement Process.
Where can I get support? What is the role of parents? What is the role of the Eagle coach? Paperwork? What Paperwork?
The first meeting, which will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 4pm, is a required Parent and Scout meeting.
This course is only offered to those Scouts who are 14 years of age or older, have earned the rank of Star or Life
and have been active in the Troop. An e-mail will be sent to confirm acceptance and will include any additional information about the program.
The Merit Badges being offered will include activities that occur at home and in between sessions.
Scouts can select 1 of the 5 Eagle Merit Badges. Scout to be placed in ONE Eagle badge class based on counselor availability and group size.
Public Speaking Merit badge is required for all and scouts will have an opportunity to earn that during the course.
