FOR MORE DETAILED EVENT INFORMATION PLEASE GO HERE

Saturday: The group will meet by the trailer at the Germonds parking lot at 8:00 am (depart at 8:30am), to split up food and camping gear. The group will then drive to the drop off at the roadside parking area on the left on Route 106. Enter the PIP northbound and travel to x14. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Willow Grove Road. Drive about 3 min (2 miles) to the roadside parking spot on the left side of the road. 41.23006, -74.06103

(Be Prepared to drive your scout to the drop off spot unless a ride is arranged ahead of time.)

Led by members of the PLC, we will follow the Suffern-Bear Mt trail (yellow) past the Orak Ruins to the recently repaired Fire Tower. After a brief rest, we continue on to the Big Hill Shelter to set up camp and tents around the shelter. After lunch we will follow the Long Path for a side hike. Our cooks will prepare dinner when we return to the shelter.

Troop Guides and Instructors will have an opportunity to fulfill their leadership requirements by helping novice backpackers select sites, pitch tents and complete rank requirements.

Sunday: After breakfast, hike out to Route 106 (same as the drop off) for pickup at 9:30 am.

Pack light and tight, remember that we will be carrying troop gear and food in addition to our own. A list of required personal gear is available on Troop website:

Please plan on cold weather. This is March, and the weather can vary greatly from day to night. We will be going in all weather conditions.
