On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Connor Finklestein sat for his Final Eagle Board and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout! He was escorted by Mr. Grosso.

Connor spoke to the Eagle Board about his project that benefitted the Orangetown Jewish Center in Orangeburg. He led his crew of scouts, family, and friends in renovating an outdoor area of their property that is frequently used for religious services and celebrations. Connor’s team excavated and removed an old concrete slab and the area below. They then replaced it with new pavers, bushes all around, and a picnic table. The new area is now larger, level, safer, and more accessible for wheelchairs and elderly congregants. It was important for him to give back to the Jewish Community. Connor recalled having to remove more concrete than expected, and working through that.
Connor reflected on his time as Outdoor Ethics Guide and how he was able to educate the troop through facts about recycling, forestry, and issues that affect the outdoors. His favorite Merit Badge was fishing.

He remembers his two trips to Mt. Cardigan, NH. He stayed at the lodge as a younger scout and recently took the hike up the mountain to stay at the High Cabin. He enjoyed both experiences very much. Connor’s advice to younger scouts is not to wait until the last minute to get requirements done, an important lesson he learned through completion of his Personal Management Merit Badge. Connor recalled his time in scouting with fondness, remembering the great times he has had with his friends and fellow scouts. He is beginning his new chapter in life at Binghamton University, studying computer/engineering.
Please join me in congratulating Connor for achieving this milestone!
